Day 1

For the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said, “Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”

Ephesians 5:14 (NLT)

Waking up isn’t usually fun. If we set an alarm, chances are we’ll hit the snooze button, maybe even more than once. Then we’ll roll out of bed and groggily look longingly back at the soft mattress and warm blankets, wishing for just five more minutes.

Nowadays we buy room darkening curtains to keep the light out. But back in the days before electricity, the farmers knew it was time to get up when the first rays of daylight creeped through the windows of their home and caused the rooster to crow. So it is with the light of God coming into our lives. When it comes, it begins to awaken things in our spirits.

I believe this month will be marked by spiritual awakening, both in the lost for whom we’re praying and in us. We all have areas in our lives where we are “drowsy” and need the light to shine. It’s time to wake up.

Let’s pray.

PRAYER POINTS FOR US

  • Heavenly Father, would You awaken me? Start with me, Father, and deepen my walk with You in Your Word and in prayer.
  • God, I’m asking that You would awaken our church community to your plans and Your purposes. Help us to align ourselves with what Your Words says we are to do. Our purpose is to pray.
  • God, we are asking that You would wake up our entire community to Your presence, from young to old. Open their eyes, Lord, that the light would come and they would realize that this is the time to pray.

TODAY’S PRAYER FOR THE LOST IN WARREN, OHIO

Father God, we are asking You for our city. As we turn our focus to pray for the lost in our city, we just want You to open our eyes to see the lost. Help us to see what we’ve overlooked in times past. Would You awaken the hearts of all the lost in the city of Warren to Your presence and love today. Give them a desire to know You in all of Your goodness and grace. Lord, we’re asking that You would, according to Matthew 9, send laborers into the harvest fields that we can’t necessarily get into. Father, if they won’t go, we ask that You would send us. Send us as laborers to awaken the people of this city to know Your love and to know You, God. We ask these things in the mighty, precious name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

We will see you back here tomorrow to pray together again.
