Day 15 (Till Christ be Formed)

May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.

Philippians 1:11 NLT

When I was little, my grandparents had a huge garden. They planted all kinds of vegetables, and at the end of the season, we’d pick them and can them. They liked green beans. I mean they REALLY liked green beans. They planted row after row after row of green beans. We were filled with the fruits of those plants all winter long.

There are fruits of salvation. Jesus Christ in our lives should produce evidence of righteousness, and that is what Paul was praying they would be filled with and abound in.

Our lives should be showing external signs of the change within us. That’s what fruit is. And Paul didn’t just leave that up to good teaching or Bible reading, which are good and necessary and have their place.

He watered the seeds of righteousness and salvation that were planted in the Philippian church when they accepted Christ with nonstop prayer. That’s what made the difference for them. And that is what will make the difference for us.

Let’s pray together.

Father, In Jesus’ Name we ask You to fill Your Church in the city of Warren with the fruit of their salvation. Thank You that You made them righteous and now we ask that You lead, guide, and direct them into righteous living which will produce the righteous character fitting someone bearing Your Name, ending with fruit that abounds in their heart and life. Give them the strength they need to produce righteous character. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
