Giving thanks to the Father, Who has qualified and made us fit to share the portion which is the inheritance of the saints (God’s holy people) in the Light.
Colossians 1:12 AMPC
Has. It’s a tiny word with big implications in this verse. It’s tied to the verb made, making it past tense. That means it’s already done. We don’t have to wait for it or work for it or try to make it happen sometime in the future. It’s already done.
What’s done? We’ve been qualified to inherit things.
When do you get an inheritance? After someone has died. You find out if you get any portion of their belongings when the will is read. The only people “qualified” to get anything are the ones whose names are written in the will.
And guess what? He qualified us! He wrote our names in the will. Toni gets a portion. Mikel gets a portion. Linda gets a portion. Joe gets a portion. You get a portion. I get a portion.
We find out what our inheritance is from Jesus’ death when we read God’s Word. Eternal life. Grace. Peace. Healing. Provision. Deliverance. Freedom. All the things.
We don’t have to work to be qualified. We don’t have to earn it. When we surrendered our lives to Christ, our names were automatically and immediately added to the will. Every promise in the Word belongs to us because we are His.
And Paul took this entire verse just to give thanks for that. So that’s what we’re going to do today.
Let’s pray together.
Father, I thank You today for putting the names of Your Church in the city of Warren in the will. We thank You for putting our names in the will. You didn’t have to give us any inheritance. Rescued back to relationship with You would have been enough. But You went even further and brought us into full sonship and made us heirs. So much belongs to us because You wrote our names as beneficiaries in the will. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Continue to make it real to us, in Jesus’ Name, amen!
