And I will give them a heart to know (recognize, understand, and be acquainted with) Me, that I am the Lord; and they will be My people, and I will be their God, for they will return to Me with their whole heart.
Jeremiah 24:7 AMPC
We “know” people on all different levels. My husband knows me better than anyone else on this earth. And then probably my best friends, Dianne and Jennifer and Alisa and Jill. Then my kids. The list could go on and on.
Some people have met me once or twice, but if you asked them, “Do you know Toni?” they could say yes because on some level they know me. But do they really know me? How well do they know me?
It’s the same with God. Some people have just surrendered their lives to the Lord and they know Him, but compared to those who have been walking with Him thirty, forty or fifty years, they don’t know Him as well. But they still know Him.
There’s always more to know of God. I’ve been walking with Him for 34 years, and I see new things and experience Him on new levels all the time. And it will be that way until the day I move to heaven.
Part of knowing Him is letting Him know you. We do that when we surrender our hearts to Him, not just at the beginning when we accepted Jesus but also daily as we make our lives an offering to Him. We can withhold as little or as much of our hearts from Him as we want and still be saved.
But life is so much sweeter when He has our WHOLE heart.
Let’s pray together.
Father, I pray for Your Church in the city of Warren that You would give them a heart to know You. Put in their heart a desire to know You even more today than yesterday. Give them a revelation that You are their God. Help them to realize that they are no longer in control of their lives. They gave You that right when they accepted Christ. And help them surrender every part of their heart to You today. In Jesus’ Name, amen!
