…and I hope that you will become thoroughly acquainted [with divine things] and know and understand [them] accurately and well to the end.
2 Corinthians 1:13b AMPC
When my daughter was younger, she watched a TV show about a girl who was a regular teenage girl by day and a pop star in disguise by night. The theme song was called The Best of Both Worlds. She lived in two worlds at once.
We may not secretly be a rock star, but we do live in two worlds at the same time. We live in this natural world that we can touch with our senses, and we live in the divine world where God resides. That one is a little more difficult for us to grasp because we can’t see it or touch it or smell it.
But it’s just as real. And I love what the Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians here. It was his desire for them and when I read it, I began to pray it for everyone I knew.
Understanding the divine realm doesn’t just happen. It takes intentionality. It takes study. It takes prayer. It takes teaching. And Paul didn’t just want them to understand for a little while. He wanted them to understand it well TO THE END. This life of faith can be difficult at times, and the better we understand God and His divine realm, the more likely we are to finish well.
So, let’s pray this and let’s pray it every single day.
Let’s pray together.
Father, help Your Church in the city of Warren to understand You. Help us to understand You too. Help us become thoroughly acquainted with Your realm and Your ways. We want to know and understand the divine things and we want to be accurate in our knowledge and comprehension of them. And may that understanding help us stand strong for You until the end. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
