You crown the year with your goodness, and your paths drip with abundance.
Psalm 65:11 NKJV
My pastor ministered out of this verse in January of 2020. It stirred such faith in our hearts for the year. What was God up to? What possibilities did 2020 hold? Miracles. Healing. Growth. Harvest. Expansion. God is on
the move — anything can happen!
“Crowned the year with goodness” describes a full and plentiful year. Paths that drip with abundance? I’ll take that! It left us oozing with hope for the potential of what the year was going to hold.
And then two short months later, life as we knew it changed and we went from “a year of possibilities” to “what in the world is happening” almost overnight.
But this verse still resonated with my heart, so I continued to speak it over my life. Over my family. Over my church.
The last several years haven’t been the easiest of our lives. But looking back I can say that this scripture has held true. It didn’t look like what I thought it would look like. At times I had to search for His goodness in the middle of the chaos. But it was always there because HE was always there.
And His provision was so faithful and miraculous! We never lacked. We didn’t go backward. To be honest, provision came from such unexpected sources (and not the government although we certainly cashed our stimulus checks) that we did much more than survive. We thrived in the middle of it.
God is faithful to His Word, even when it doesn’t look like we thought it would. We just need to be faithful to speak it. To declare it. To pray it.
Let’s pray together.
Father, we thank You that You are always good, even when life throws us curve balls. We pray for Your Church in the city of Warren and ask You to crown their year with goodness. Open their eyes to see Your goodness, even if life isn’t looking too good right now. Thank You that Your paths always drip with abundance, and when we follow in Your footsteps, our paths drip with Your abundance too. And when abundance flows, help us to be good stewards of what You bless us with. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
