Day 31 (Till Christ be Formed)

As for me, I will continue beholding Your face in righteousness (rightness, justice, and right standing with You); I shall be fully satisfied, when I awake [to find myself] beholding Your form [and having sweet communion with You].

Psalm 17:15 AMPC

I recently listened to a podcast and the woman who was talking said, “I
have a rule. I don’t scroll through social media without spending time in worship first. I need to have my heart set on Him before I look at anyone else.”

Why? Because we live in a culture of comparison, and it’s so easy to get dissatisfied when we compare.

Satisfied. Contented. Pleased. Fully satisfied means no room for anything else. I couldn’t ask for anything more. I have everything I could possibly want.

This verse has been my friend since 1990. When I didn’t have any friends and was lonely, I would say, “I shall be fully satisfied in You, Lord.” When I got friends and they all got married before me, I said, “Lord, You are all I need to be content.”

When someone else got the answer to my prayer, my heart’s cry became, “My heart is only satisfied in You, Jesus.” When I was still waiting on that answer to prayer years later, it was, “Jesus plus nothing is all I need to be content.”

He is all we need to be fully satisfied. It’s not Jesus plus our dream. It’s not Jesus plus a new house. It’s not Jesus plus a spouse or friends or kids or jobs or whatever it is that we want but don’t have.

Everything we could ever want we will only find in Him. Jesus isn’t the treasure map. Jesus is the treasure.

If you can’t describe yourself as fully satisfied in Him, maybe you need to make this verse your friend. Write it on a note card or in the notes on your phone and carry it with you. Look at it throughout the day. Declare it over yourself and pray it again and again.

While you’re at it, pray this one too; they go hand in hand. “But I have trusted in You, Adonai. I said, ‘You are my God. My times are in Your hands.’” (Psalm 31:15-16a TLV)

Let’s pray together.

Father, we pray this for ourselves today and for Your Church in the city of Warren. Help our hearts be fully satisfied in You alone. We appreciate Your blessings. We know You are faithful to perform the promises we are still waiting on. We know You hold our dreams in Your hands. None of these things will bring contentment to our hearts. That comes only from You. So, we place our hearts and lives and souls in Your capable hands. Have Your way. We trust You. Our times are in Your hands. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
