And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength, 20 Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places], 21 Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come.
Ephesians 1:19-21 AMPC
And. These verses start with this tiny little conjunction. First, there was the hope He has called us to. But He didn’t stop there. Then He added a rich inheritance. That would have been enough, but He kept going. Paul wanted the light to flood their understanding and push back any confusion surrounding one more thing.
The power of God.
As he travailed in prayer until Christ was formed in them, he prayed they would understand the immeasurable, unlimited, surpassing greatness, and infiniteness of the power of God.
God wasn’t selfish with His power. He didn’t keep it to Himself. He demonstrated it on our behalf and for our good. It’s not just for us to see but also for us to experience.
It’s not only outside of us working something for us. It’s in us. In us. IN US! Let that sink in. Paul prayed nonstop, and he didn’t pray for God to pour out His power on us, like perfume that might wear off. He prayed that we would understand the power of God that He has already placed in us permanently.
It is imperative we know and understand the power of God. It’s His power that enables us to live for Him. It enables us to do the works that Jesus did. We can’t do anything without the power of God. And the good news is — it’s already in us!
Let’s pray this together.
Father, We thank you for Your Church in the city of Warren. Your power is already in them, working for them, for their good, and on their behalf. But to fully walk in it, they need an understanding of it. So, we ask You to flood the eyes of their heart with light, revealing the vastness and reality of Your power that is in them wanting to work. Help them understand it. Let them experience it. In Jesus’ Name, amen!
